LKW.APP launches Europe-wide display of parking occupancy for truck drivers

Cologne, 3 August 2023 — LKW.APP, developed by the Cologne-based startup Aparkado, is entering the next phase of its growth plan. To make finding parking significantly easier for truck drivers across Europe, the app is now expanding its unique parking occupancy display from Germany to all of Europe.

App launch back in autumn 2022

Since the app launched in September 2022, Aparkado has already recorded more than 7,000 international downloads. Thanks to the direct involvement of experienced truck drivers in the app's development, LKW.APP wins them over with a realistic solution to their parking problem. The display of expected parking occupancy is unique and enables truck drivers to plan their journeys and rest stops. In addition to official (blue) and potential (grey) parking options, a colour-coded traffic-light system shows the expected occupancy of parking areas for which data is available. Combined with on-site occupancy ratings from users, Aparkado is thereby working towards a real-time occupancy display.

Occupancy display for truck parking areas beyond Germany for the first time

The display of parking occupancy is based on the pseudonymised processing of historical geodata. The corresponding expected occupancy of the parking areas listed in Germany has been visible to users since May 2023. Now Aparkado is expanding the occupancy display across Europe. Of more than 12,000 parking areas listed in Europe, LKW.APP now shows an occupancy forecast for over 5,000 parking areas. This step enables truck drivers to find a suitable parking spot stress-free within their driving time, on both long and short distances.

LKW.APP remains free until the end of 2023

LKW.APP will continue to be available with all features free of charge for iOS and Android until the end of the year. After that, selected features of the app will move into a paid version.
