Aparkado launches LKW.APP PRO FOR TRUCK DRIVERS

Cologne, Germany |

The LKW.APP is launching its expanded app offering for the digitized truck parking space search. For this, Aparkado, as the developer behind the app, is now launching “LKW.APP PRO”. From now on, truck drivers can use the additional functions via an app upgrade to already find free truck parking spaces before the start of the tour.

Parking space occupancy display through digitalization

Aparkado is tackling the parking problem in Europe with the LKW.APP. Based on pseudonymized geodata, the app offers an occupancy display for parking spaces, which it expanded from Germany to the whole of Europe in August 2023. The display of the current occupancy of parking spaces is and remains part of the free app offer. Here Aparkado is contributing to allowing road freight transport to benefit from the digitalization progression. Roland Moussavi, co-founder of Aparkado: “Digitalization has not yet reached truck drivers. Not because they can’t take it or don’t want to, but because they haven’t been the focus of attention as direct beneficiaries, yet.”

The LKW.APP already has over 22,000 downloads from more than 50 countries and has recently increased the number of parking spaces with an occupancy indicator to over 14,000.

Extension to LKW.APP PRO: The Parking Monitor

With a paid subscription to LKW.APP PRO, users now can use additional functions of the app to search for parking spaces. The upgrade includes access to the “Parking Monitor”, a significant extension of the occupancy display. With it, truck drivers can not only view the current occupancy of parking spaces, but also have insight into the forecast occupancy up to 15 hours in advance. Based on extensive data processing, the search for a parking space can be planned and the search time and its CO2 emissions are drastically reduced.

Outlook for transport companies: LKW.APP BUSINESS

In the future, Aparkado will also give transport companies access to the app extensions. The “LKW.APP BUSINESS” subscription model coming in spring creates the opportunity to equip your own drivers with the parking monitor in a simplified manner. In times of driver shortages and cost increases, the new offer comes at the right time, as it both supports drivers in their everyday lives and reduces transport costs of every tour. Philipp Henn, co-founder of Aparkado: “The problem is not new, but the solution is. With LKW.APP BUSINESS, companies can offer their drivers a benefit that is worthwhile for both.”

Support from the TIMOCOM founder

The LKW.APP is not only intended to solve the European parking problem in the long term. Truck drivers should also fundamentally be able to benefit more from digitalization in order to network and make their experiences more visible. The startup’s mission is supported by Jens Thiermann. The founder of the German FreightTech company TIMOCOM and pioneer of digitalized European road freight transport joined Aparkado as an investor in 2021. In addition to his many years of experience in the field, improving the everyday working life of truck drivers is also a personal concern for him. Jens Thiermann: “It is the truck drivers who ultimately handle the transport orders. Therefore, after improving the everyday work of dispatchers and fleet managers, it’s my heartfelt wish to make the everyday work of truck drivers easier, too.”
