LKW.APP starts Europe-wide display of parking space occupancy for truck drivers

Cologne, Germany | The LKW.APP of the startup Aparkado from Cologne is entering the next phase of its growth plan. To make it much easier for truck drivers in Europe to find a parking space, the app is now expanding its unique display of parking space occupancy from Germany to the whole of Europe.

App already launched since autumn 2022

Since the app was launched in September 2022, Aparkado has already recorded over 7,000 international downloads. Thanks to the direct involvement of experienced truck drivers in the app development, LKW.APP scores with them with a realistic solution to their parking space problem. The display of the expected occupancy of parking spaces is unique and enables truck drivers to plan their journey and rest. In addition to official (blue) and potential (grey) parking spaces, a colored traffic light system shows the expected occupancy of parking spaces for which data is available. In combination with the assessment of the parking space occupancy by the users on site, Aparkado is striving for a real-time occupancy display.

First occupancy display of truck parking spaces outside of Germany

The display of the parking space occupancy is based on the pseudonymized processing of historical geodata. The expected occupancy of the parking spaces listed in Germany has already been visible to users since May 2023. Aparkado is now expanding the occupancy display throughout Europe. From more than 12,000 listed parking spaces in Europe, the LKW.APP now shows an occupancy forecast for over 5,000 parking spaces. This step enables truck drivers to find a suitable parking space within their driving time without stress, both on long and short distances.

LKW.APP will remain free until the end of 2023

The LKW.APP will continue to be available free of charge for iOS and Android with all functions until the end of the year. Individual functions of the app will then be transferred to a paid version. „First of all, it is important for us to prove that the LKW.APP can make a significant contribution to improving the everyday work of truck drivers. We only talk about money afterwards,” says co-founder Roland Moussavi. Aparkado will announce exactly what the paid version will look like and what prices will be charged at the end of 2023.
